Four Spiritual Leaderships

Today we will share a message about a healthy leadership

Where does church leadership come from?

Leadership is becoming a central issue not only in church but also in business and government, and even in the home. There are so many books and seminars on successful leadership. But what kind of leadership does the Bible teach us?

I would like to share about Christian leadership with the four different aspects.

The first is community leadership which is building a community. (Community Leadership)

Yes, a true leader is the one who builds up the community by sacrificing him or herself in order to edify the body of Christ. Community Leadership means Sacrificing Leadership. In order for a certain community or ministry to be successful and flourishing, leaders should be willing to give in with lots of dedication and commitment which are Sacrificed Efforts for the Community and the Ministry.

The Second is leadership as a gift from God. (Grace Leadership)
Biblical Leadership is based on spiritual grace and is exercised by the power of the Holy Spirit. As mentioned in 1 Corinthians 12 and Ephesians 4, the church’s leadership is not based on individual specifications, social status or property. It is based on the grace of the Holy Spirit, which is given to each person. So it makes the leadership of the church a revolutionary content.

`Yes, successful community including in the family, church, school, and the society where we belong is the place where we can experience a true sense of Rapport, Koinonia. You may have the full peace and grace where the Holy Spirit is moving and governs. We are the body of Christ. Leaders should be the key role persons to lead the community into the Lord who enables a community to experience the presence (of God) with peace and grace.

The third is the disciple as a leader. (Disciple Leadership)

A true leader must be a true disciple of Jesus Christ. Leaders should acknowledge the Lordship of the Lord as a Kingdom Focused Leader and should declare the Kingship of the Lord in every corner of their lives by living under God’s Sovereign Reign. We’ve got to remember that we are called to manifest God’s Greatness through our Servant Leadership as John the Baptist who prepared the path of the Messiah, the King of kings and Lord of lords among the people and the Nations. Leaders are the agents to prepare the path for our true leader, Jesus Christ as His disciple.

The fourth is leadership as a servant. (Servant Leadership)

The teachings in Mark 10:42~45 introduce this servant leadership.

Leaders should be always the servant of the Lord and the people, brothers and sisters. Jesus Himself showed a perfect example as a servant as we see throughout His ministry. What did Jesus show the final action to His disciple? He washed the feet of His disciples intentionally and told His disciple, “I came not to be served but to serve, you must wash others feet as I wash your feet.” A true leader is a true servant.

God is always uplifting a humble or servant leader as Paul describes in Philippians 2:5-11.

Your attitude should be the same as that of Christ Jesus:
Who being in the very nature of God, did not consider equality with God something to be grasped, but made Himself nothing, taking on the very nature of a servant, being made in human likeness.
And being found in appearance as a man, he humbled Himself and became obedient to death – even death on a cross!

Therefore God exalted Him to the highest place and gave Him the name that is above every name, that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, in heaven and on earth and under the earth, and every tongue confess that Jesus is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.

Finally Jesus called them together and said, “You know that those who are regarded as rulers of the Gentiles lord it over them, and their high officials exercise authority over them. Not so with you. Instead, whoever wants to become great among you must be your servant, and whoever wants to be first must be a slave to all.

For even the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give His life as a ransom for many.
“Jesus says, ‘You may know that the rulers of the Gentiles arbitrarily govern them and the nobles may nnot rule over them, and among you, whoever wants to grow up must serve, and whoever wants to be the first, shall be the servant of all.”
