Ephesians
5: 18 ”Be filled with the power of the Holy Spirit"
Recently
I read the article that cyclists can even feel compassion and homogeneity as
living creatures like dogs and cats. Therefore, it is not surprising in a way
that there are so many modern people who live with living animals as their
companions.
After
all, regardless of whether it is a living or a nonliving object, where we place
our minds is the object of our love for life. Where do we put our attention for
our love? So we become the object of our love when we put our love into
something else.
In
fact, one of my co-workers recently went to a zoo hospital where he had a pet
dog checked and he heard that his pet was in danger because of acute pneumonia.
Eventually, the surgery was carried out as recommended by the veterinarian, and
the result was 6.5 million won. In other words he had to pay about $6,000. It
was really hard for me to understand it at all, but now I can understand it
after reading this article that a person likes his or her bike and can sleep
with the bike on the same bed.
It's
funny to say, but it's a true story. A pastor whom I knew a few years ago
visited a funeral because he was asked to host a funeral for his church
member’s family. The surprising fact is that the portrait of the picture
was not a human but a dog, a Chihuahua. When the pastor came to know that he
was invited to conduct a pet’s funeral, he was so embarrassed that he was at a
loss on how to console and pray.
After
all, it's important where we put our minds. Perhaps in the future, a
veterinarian will make more money than a doctor, and as a result, a veterinary
department could be the most popular major for college students in the near
future. .
Our
lives in today's world always look empty and lacking something, so it seems
like we are living a life lacking in affection. The reason is that there is no
space in our hearts which only God can fill due to the fullness with other
stuff. Pascal said that there is a space only God can fill. It is not possible
to replace that space with other things such as money, sexuality, fame, etc.
That is the only place God can fill. Because the space is empty, human beings
always feel empty and lonely with alienated feelings due to the absence of
God’s fullness.
Do
you experience that your heart is full of joy and your life is now being filled
with God’s fullness? Or you are all in a mess with despair and frustration? Am
I feeling with God’s fullness; or feeling of the World’s emptiness. It depends
on the stuff filling in your heart, that is, feeling for God or the World. You
may check yourself whether you fill your heart with God or with the world.
Let
us pursue God in order to fill our hearts with His fullness. Always by seeking
of His glory, we’ve got to be drawn to God. When we have filled our empty space
with His presence, then we shall be able to experience God’s fullness of beauty
and love. This is the reason why we’ve got to be diligent to seek for the
Kingdom of God and His righteousness and then everything will be given to us with
His fullness.(Matthew 6:33)
In
Ephesians 5: 15-20 says that “we should be very careful how to live not as
unwise but as wise, by making the most of every opportunity, because the days
are evil. Therefore we shouldn’t be foolish, but understand what the Lord’s will
is.”
We
should be filled with the Holy Spirit by speaking to one another with palms,
hymns, and songs from the Spirit. And we need to sing and make music from our
heart to the Lord, always giving thanks to God the Father for everything in the
name of our Lord, Jesus Christ.
