Blessed are the meek, for they will inherit the earth. (Matthew 5:5)
The kingdom of God is within you today (Luke 17:20-21).The kingdom of God is not a matter of eating or drinking, but of righteousness, peace and joy in the Holy Spirit(Romans 14:17). Blessed are the meek, for they will inherit the earth (land).
God promised the Israelites in the wilderness that if the people of God in the desert obeyed, they would enter into the land that God promised. The Israelites who were enslaved by Egypt were able to cross the Red Sea through the hand of God's Almighty Salvation. It was the wilderness that God led them as soon as they crossed the Red Sea, instead of leading them to the land God had promised.
Wilderness was a testing place for the Israelites to show that God alone was the ultimate master and protector of their lives. God led the people of Israel through the pillar of cloud by day, and through the pillar of fire by night toward the land of promise. The heavenly food (manna) from the Lord was granted for the people of Israel to train them to obey in God's supply and guidance.
He wants for the people of God to rely only on Him in our daily lives, like the people of God in the wilderness. God wants us to live by His power, not by our power. He wants us fully to acknowledge God's sovereignty and wants to live in absolute obedience.
It is the land of Canaan that is blessed by God that is promised to the people of God who are obedient. The gift to the people of God in the land of promise is that they will receive his land as a gift, and that because the presence of God will remain in it, God's peace will be given to them. When the peace of God reaches our lives, gentleness(meekness) is revealed through our character. Therefore, in Matthew 5:5 , Jesus says, "Blessed are the meek, and we will inherit the land."
Meekness means the state in which God's peace is obtained as a result of obedience. The peace of God brings us to a meekness of mind. The meekness is a blessing in us when we dwell in the land of God's promise. Jesus said, "He who is gentle will receive the land for his inheritance."
If we dwell in the place or land God promised through our obedience, then we will be able to enjoy the peace of God( Shalom), so that the peace God has been given, the world cannot give as Jesus said. When we talk about the Peace of God, it is the state that we can enjoy God¡¯s presence when we enter in the promised land of God.
Even though we are living in this world, but we are not belonging to this world, but we are belonging to God. So Paul said that we are the citizens of Heaven(The Kingdom of God).
We should have a different perspective or worldview as Christians. Christians mean that we are the people of God, so we are supposed to live under God¡¯s sovereign reign(Rule).
Today I would like to explore profoundly about the meekness.
This meekness is a precious gift given through obedience to the Father of Heaven. Through the obedience to God, we are blessed and protected by God, and we should know that the peace is the precious gift that we receive when we obey God.
The greatest characteristic of those who enjoy peace in God through obedience to God is gentleness or meekness and the humility as well. The reason is that we express the sense of stability, the sense of absolute stability, in the hands of God's almighty protection when we live in the care of the Father in heaven. Jesus said that ¡°I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will fine rest for your souls.¡± (Matthew 11:29)
God promised that when the people of Israel obey God in the wilderness, they will enter the land God promised and receive two blessings when they enter the land he promised.
The first is the Land. This land means the land that God promised. The earth is a gift of blessing for those who live by faith and obedience. This land means an unshakable gift that no one can take away.
The second is the peace of God that is given to the people of God who have received the land as a gift. This peace means that God has given the absolute sense of security to his children. When God comes down to the people of God who dwell in the Promised Land then God himself become the King of the peoples that dwell in it, a direct protector, and a Father. This is the peace that the world can never give. So the Lord says that the peace He gives is the peace that the world can never give.
Yes, by obedience, let us strive to receive peace as a gift, the land God promised us today.
You know, I pray that by obedience to God, the kingdom of God will be in your life.
