4. Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil, for you are with me; your rod and your staff, they comfort me.
5. You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies. You anoint my head with oil; my cup overflows.
6. Surely goodness and love will follow me all the days of my life, and I will dwell in the house of the LORD forever.
V4 – Even though I walk through the darkest valleys I will fear no evil for you are with me.
Yes, it is true that we feel that we are so vulnerable in this sinful, corrupted world surrounded by powerful evil forces. Even though we belong to heaven as a citizen of the Kingdom of God, here on earth we’ve got to live with all the evil, sinful corruptions. I was told that so many Christians in many countries are cruelly being persecuted. They are being suffered with incredible persecution.
However, the darkest valley in the most difficult time and the saddest moment of our lives God is protecting us. God is Emmanuel, God with Us. With his loving care He comforts us and that’s the reason why we are yearning for his presence. In His bosom we can find true comfort and peace because God is embracing us with his protective arms by keeping us safe.
V5b – You anoint my head with oil
which means you serve a six-course dinner right in front of my enemies. You revive my drooping head; my cup brims with blessing.
Sometimes as we live as a Christian we feel that we are losing our rights because the people in the world seem to try to win over us but we seem to be very poor and sometimes we face scarcity even starvation.
However the one who truly serves the Lord is rich spiritually. When you face injustice, unfairness sometimes we’re in despair because someone takes advantage of us. However don’t’ be discouraged because God knows what the enemies are doing against you. Always remember that the Lord prepares a table before us in the presence of our enemies. This world seems to be unfair with all the abnormal conditions in our lives but remember the things you are looking at now will disappear like a mist at dawn or dust in the air. Like the darkness at dawn you will see that evil will disappear, fading away.
Remember only God is the sovereign Lord only God is the eternal power. Every power except God will be gone like the movie title Gone with the Wind. Someday God will despise evil ones who did wrong or did wrong to you who made you sad who made you miserable, but God is going to revenge instead of you.
V5 – You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies.
God will bless our lives with his Holy Spirit as we seek for the Kingdom of God and His Glory. He is blessing our lives by pouring out his Holy Spirit for those who love Him. He is anointing us with overflowing blessings through His Spirit.
V6 – It is sure that his goodness and love will follow us all the days of our lives
As long as we are seeking for the kingdom of God and his righteousness as Jesus Christ says in Matthew 6:33, everything will be given unto us. For those who are seeking for the kingdom of God will be experiencing His amazing grace and His abundant love all the time. The kingdom of Heaven is widely opening and waiting for us.
